Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

 

The Redeemer Women of the ELCA curently has three circles, and has been one of the most active of our church ministries from the time of its inception in 1965 to the present. Activities and organizations the group sponsors and supports include:

  • Food to shut-ins
  • Supporting migrant workers
  • Annual spiritual retreats
  • Altar care
  • The Chrismon Tree
  • Lowman Home (visits, gifts, annual luncheon, resident adoptions)
  • Church Women United (inter-denominational Christian women's group)
  • Newberry College
  • Seminary Auxiliary
  • Lutheridge
  • Annual Mother-Daughter-Friend Luncheon
  • Palmetto Place Children's Emergency Shelter
  • Women's Shelter
  • Sister Care
  • Lutheran Family Services of the Carolinas
  • Refreshments for the Sunday coffee hour 
  • LTSS scholarships

Redeemer's WELCA continue to support the SC Synod of the WELCA and the churchwide organization of the WELCA with their monthly contributions.

Coming Events

Redeemer WELCA General Meeting will be Monday, October 11, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall.  The guest speaker will be Dallas Shealey, Executive Director, SC Lutheran Retreat Centers.  We will collect any of the following items for Camp Kinard:  White towels & wash cloths, laundry detergent, coffee mugs (New or Used), hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies for kitchen & bathrooms.  Bring items to the General Meeting.  If you cannot attend this meeting but wish to contribute place the items on the WELCA Table and clearly mark for Camp Kinard.  All ladies at Redeemer are invited, as well as, our Pastor and Vicar.

 

Midlands Conference will be Saturday, October 9, 2010 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Blythewood, SC.  Registration is 9:30-10:00 A.M.  Lunch will be served.  The project will be food items for Harvest Hope Food Bank.  If you cannot attend the meeting but wish to contribute place the items on the WELCA Table and clearly mark for Midlands Conference.  All ladies at Redeemer are invited, as well as, our Pastor and Vicar.

 

SC-WELCA convention will be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 24-26, 2011.  This will be located in North Charleston, SC at the Embassy Suites.  Registration forms and cost TBA.

 

Triennial Convention.  This is the WELCA National Convention.  It will be July 14-17, 2011 in Spokane, Washington.  If you are interested in attending this Convention call Linda Griffith at (803) 359-1278 or e-mail her at lindagriffith2@aol.com.
